The Surfstream app is a mobile solution designed to streamline the rental process for jet skis in Florida, offering services at two popular locations: Miami and Tampa. The app allows users to seamlessly explore rental options, choose their preferred time slots and jet ski models, and complete bookings directly from their smartphones. The user-friendly interface ensures a smooth experience, catering to both new and returning users with secure login features and personalized account management. The overall design emphasizes clarity, accessibility, and an immersive visual experience.

1. Discovery & Research: To start the project, I conducted a discovery session with the client to understand their business goals, target audience, and the specific needs of their jet ski rental service. Research was performed on the competition and the latest trends in rental and travel apps to identify key features that enhance user experience and retention. I also explored user personas, focusing on tourists and locals who value speed and convenience in making bookings for adventure activities.

2. Wireframing & User Flow: Using Figma, I created low-fidelity wireframes to establish the basic structure and flow of the app. The key screens included user login, browsing available jet ski models, selecting rental hours, and the checkout process. Special attention was paid to the navigation and making it intuitive for both tech-savvy and non-tech-savvy users. The wireframes were iterated upon, incorporating feedback from the client and potential users.

3. Visual Design: After finalizing the wireframes, I moved on to the visual design phase. I chose a sleek and modern color scheme featuring shades of purple and blue to evoke the energy and vibrancy of water sports. Minimalist line art was used to illustrate the jet skis, ensuring the focus remained on the rental options without overwhelming the user. Key brand elements were emphasized, including Surfstream’s logo and a clean typography hierarchy to ensure readability across various screen sizes.

4. Prototyping: I built interactive prototypes using Figma to test and validate the user flow. This helped ensure that the experience from logging in to booking a jet ski was intuitive and fluid. Users could easily navigate between options for different jet ski models, rental hours, and complete their booking in a few steps.

5. Usability Testing: With the client’s involvement, I conducted usability testing with real users to gather feedback on the overall experience. The feedback allowed me to make adjustments to the layout, button sizes, and text labels for enhanced clarity and engagement.

6. Final Design & Handoff: The final design was delivered in high-fidelity, ready for development. I ensured all screens were fully responsive, adapting to various mobile devices. Additionally, I provided a style guide and design documentation for the development team, ensuring consistency across all interactions and future app updates.

This process not only delivered a visually appealing and highly functional app but also ensured that Surfstream’s core business goals of customer convenience and engagement were fully realized in the digital product.
